How To Lower Your Blood Pressure

For many people struggling to control their high blood pressure, finding ways to lower it naturally is a priority. While blood pressure medication does help in bringing it down, many patients find that medication  alone is not enough. Furthermore, the prospect of  having to depend on blood pressure drugs for the rest of their lives is not very appealing, especially when considering that they all come with side effects.

Certainly, for anyone with high blood pressure, the chances of having a stroke, heart attack, or kidney failure are greatly increased. But just what can a person do to lower blood his/her blood pressure naturally?

Well, we know that exercise is one key factor in lowering blood pressure; however,  in today's hectic world, lots of people find it difficult to commit to an exercise program because of lack of time.

So, the results of a recent study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health is very encouraging since it shows that even moderate exercise done less than 5 days a week can yield great improvement in lowering blood pressure measurements.

In the study, a small group of sedentary individuals between the ages of 40 and 60 took part in an exercise program for 12 weeks.

The group was randomly divided in three where one group was assigned 30 minutes of brisk walking 5 days a week. The second group was assigned the same program, but for only 3 days a week, and the third group did nothing; that is, they were not asked to make any changes to their current lifestyle habits.

At the end of the 12 weeks study, the non-walkers did not show any changes in their measurements. However, both walking groups showed significant drop in blood pressure, as well as in their waist and hip measurements.

Exercise is one of the most effective, and natural ways to lower blood pressure, and it's encouraging to know that even moderate amounts of excercise can substantially reduce blood pressure.

If you suffer from high blood pressure, the medication your doctor prescribes for you may not be enough to bring your numbers to a healthy 120/80 so, it's important that you incorporate other ways to bring it under control.

Exercise, and a healthy diet are key components to lowering your blood pressure, but even this combination may not be enough for many people. That is why, you need to educate yourself so that you can start incorporating different things in your lifestyle that will help you lower your blood pressure down to a healthy safe number.

I find the The Silent Killer Exposed to be a good resource packed with valuable information, and techniques that will teach you how to lower your blood pressure to a range that will have your doctor scratching her head.

I know this, because after 5 years of not being able to have a reading lower than 140/90, as of May 2007, my blood pressure is now in the healthy range of 120/80,  sometimes even a bit lower, and I owe it all to the techniques I applied after reading The Silent Killer Exposed.

After testing, and re-testing, all my doctor could do was scratch her head, and say: "Cris, whatever you're doing, keep it up."

To your health!
